Your Clinic Experience:

Transition To Health is a professional clinic where health services are provided in a soothing, healing and safe environment.  We listen.  We want to know your health concerns and your health goals.  We will review your current medical treatments, your medical history and your lifestyle habits.  We will perform a Traditional Chinese Medical examination of the tongue, pulse & palpation.  In some cases, we will do a bioimpedence analysis (BIA) to accurately determine your body composition.  Based upon all of this information we will develop and discuss your treatment plan.

Our goal at Transition To Health is for each to client understand your medical condition, how your lifestyle impacts your health, and receive appropriate healthcare/treatment.  We responsibly refer to other medical practitioners when appropriate.

Health Insurance:

Some health insurance plans cover acupuncture treatment and/or lifestyle counseling.  However, most coverage is limited to specific conditions and number of treatments allowed.  We recommend you to contact your insurer to clarify your benefits.

Transition To Health is a HealthPartner's Preferred Network Acupuncture Provider and will submit the claim directly to HealthPartners.   For all other health insurers, treatment is paid for by the patient at the time of service and a Superbill is provided.  You simply submit the Superbill to your insurer and any reimbursement funds available will be paid directly to you.

The Clinic is able to directly submit most auto and Worker's Compensation claims.   We require documentation that your case is open with available benefits prior to starting treatment.

In all cases, we are happy to call your insurance company and verify your coverage.

News & Book Club:

The Transition To Health Book Club is an ongoing information and support group.  Meeting times are the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings 6:30-7:45 and the 2nd and 4th Thursday mornings 9:15-10:30 of every month.  Topics focus on health, wellness, and lifestyle issues.  To facilitate learning and participation, a book list is provided and readings are highly recommended.  As space is limited, registration is required.  Due to various holidays, please call the clinic to verify the meeting schedule.

The Transition To Health Library:

Over the years Transition To Health has collected numerous books on medicine, health, wellness, nutrition, weight management, stress reduction, yoga, exercise, philosophy and spirituality.  The clinic library is a comfortable room where you are welcome to pull up a chair, pour a cup of tea, and read at your leisure.  All of the books used by the Book Club are available to read.  Some of the books are available to check out and there are some new copies of books available to purchase.  The library also has internet access should you wish to bring along your computer.

Debi Rene Weiss  LAc, Dipl.Ac., RN, MaOM

Upon graduation from Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Debi began her medical career in 1975 specializing in psychiatric nursing at Metropolitan Medical Center, Minneapolis.  It was also during this time that the nation was learning of many alternative treatments including  acupucture, in part due to President Nixon's historic trip to China.  Always interested in mind-body medicine, Debi followed closely the work of  Bernie Segal, Larry Dossey, Rudolph Ballintine, Jeffrey Bland and other pioneers in the medical field.  In 1980, though still passionate about psychiatry, the early constraints of managed health care began to alter hospital nursing as she knew it.  Dissapointed but determined, she went in search of  "other ways to be a nurse."  Debi found this niche at Come To Your Senses, a Twin Cities health and wellness store.  For the next 10 years she focused on expanding the product lines of relaxation music, bodywork, cruelty-free cosmetics and health books, as well as teaching in the medical community.

In 1996 Debi received her BA in Ethics & Philosophy at The College of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Mn.

She earned her Master's degree in Oriental Medicine in 2001 from the Minnesota College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine at Northwestern Health Sciences University.  She is nationally certified to practice Chinese Medicine (NCCAOM--Dipl.Ac.) and is licensed by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice (LAc.).

Debi serves on the Acupuncture Advisory Council for the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.  Additionally, she is a member of the practitioner workgroup co-operating with HealthPartner's Medical Policy department in updating and enhancing that insurer's acupuncture policy.
